20-Something Man Who Put His Mum Through Hell In His Teens About to Make Up For It With A Candle

"Yeah look I wasn't an angel. Hung around with a sketchy crowd. I sometimes called mum names I'm not proud of. That's why I've got her the exact candle she asked for. That should do it."

Roy Morgan (24) is the first to admit that he was no angel for the first twenty or so years of his life. He was a rude, selfish and aggressive teen. And he feels that he could have treated his mum a lot better than he did. So today he is going all out, buying her the candle that she told him to get for her.

Like every year, Roy's dad Arthur and mum Nerida have organised and will pay for a lunch for Mothers Day. This year, they are heading to the Rowers Dining Hall for what should be a very pleasant lunch. Roy is feeling pretty smug about things.

"Yeah I've gone all out this year. Mum told me the specific candle that she wanted. I thought I might get her a cheaper one because it's pretty expensive. It's like $65 from Glasshouse. But then I thought about what a ratbag I was when I was younger. And I think she deserves it."

Roy is also nursing a monstrous hangover, so his mum really is lucky that he will be showing up at all.

"Yeah I very nearly piked. I feel abused after last night. But again I just started thinking about all she's done for me over the years. She's a pretty bloody good mum to put up with me and not kick me out of the house. So not only did I get her an awesome present, but check out this button-up shirt. She always gets proud and shit when I dress handsome. I'm gonna be in the good books massively."

The Coastal Tribune caught up with his mum Nerida. She informed us that she doesn't care too much about the present. She'll just be happy if he turns up and behaves himself.
