Toddlers Agree To Take Their Parents To See The Lion King Movie When It Comes Out

"Did you see their faces light up when the trailer came on? I think they love it as much as I love Paw Patrol."

Liam (3)and Leon Hunter (4) love anything animated or CGI, and their favourite shows are Thomas the Tank Engine and Paw Patrol.

They are truly grateful to their parents, who let them watch lots of episodes of both, and even took them recently to watch the Peter Rabbit movie. They are lucky boys indeed.

However, with the recent unveiling of the trailer for the Disney live action incarnation of The Lion King, the traditional parent-child roles have been turned on their head.

Liam explains that his parents have been begging him to go with them to see it when the film is finally released on July 19, 2019.

"Mummy and Daddy love Lion King. I heard them talking. I think they love it like I love Paw Patrol and ice cream. They want to see it so much and I said I will go with them to make them happy. They've been very nice and good to me so they can go to it."

Parents  are generally very excited by the cast, the very impressive-looking photorealistic computer-animated production values and a trailer that sent shivers up millions of spines across the world.

However, parents of a certain age also greet the movie with a degree of trepidation. Liam and Leon's mum Emma (37) explains that she's been hurt before.

"I'm so excited about that movie. Have you seen the cast? And the trailer. Seriously looks unbelievable. But I feel like we've been down that road before. I feel like nearly all of my favourite childhood movies have been horribly remade recently. I remember being excited when I heard that Wonka was getting redone. Remember that steaming pile of movie? But yeah I hope this is as good as it looks. We're both very excited, and the kids have agreed to come along."

Many parents share Emma's concerns. Parents of that generation are affected by what is known in the medical community as the "Burton Effect", whereby their excitement towards a remake is tempered by concern that the movie will be butchered.

However, such is the awesomeness of that trailer, they are allowing themselves to believe again.

It's going to be a long wait.
