“Something special happened mate. As they started coming in, all of a sudden I could picture them perfectly in my head. I don’t know if it was the Holy Spirit or some sort of Christmas miracle. But I remembered all of them. Even the weird hipster ones my daughter gave her kids.”
George Portis is the proud father of three sons and a daughter, and a loving grandfather to a significant and growing collection of grandkids.
So today is a rather wonderful day, because George and his wife Christine are having the whole clan over for Christmas lunch.
George explains that a Christmas miracle happened when the guests first arrived.
“Yeah I’ve got so many grandkids. Too bloody many really. Feels like there’s a few more every year. And my kids have given my grandkids weird bloody trendy bullshit names that are impossible to remember. Not like in my day when everyone was George and Nick.”
George explains that he had a foolproof way to conceal the fact that he had lost track of everyone’s names.
“Yeah I had promised myself I wouldn’t commit to saying their names. I was just gonna say ‘Hey little man’ and ‘look at my beautiful princess’. You know. Stuff like that.”
But as George’s family started to pour in, he felt something come over him.

George may have somehow nailed the names. However, our advice remains that if you’re not sure that you know all of them, don’t get too ambitious.
The Haydens of this world get sad when grandpa calls them Jayden.
