“I know that pretty much everyone here thinks that this is a Tronik concert. I know that’s how it’s been promoted and most people are here to see them. But to me this is a Metallurgical concert and they just happen to be playing first. I can’t believe nobody’s listening.”
Jake Sylvester is Metallurgical’s biggest fan. He’s seen them play at pubs and clubs all across Australia.
Jake was absolutely over the moon when he heard that Metallurgical was supporting Tronik, a massive band from the United States. This was a huge step forward for his favourite band, and it was the recognition that they sorely deserved.
When the concert finally rolled around, Jake was pretty pissed off by what he saw. The vast majority of the crowd seemed to be either outside drinking or too busy chatting to each other and taking photos to really listen to Metallurgical do their thing.
Everyone was, according to Jake, “taking the absolute piss.”
“That was my favourite band out there, man. Smashing out the set of their lives to a half-empty stadium of dickheads were too busy taking selfies and talking loudly about bullshit. Bit of bloody respect wouldn’t have gone astray!”
Jake had dragged a group of his mates to the concert, and he was particularly annoyed by their conduct.
“Those boys know how mad I am on Metallurgical. I made that very clear. But there they were. Talking about footy results and all sorts of other rubbish. I even tried to make it clear by loudly singing along to the songs whenever they tried to talk to me. But nope. Not for one second did they shut up and listen.”
Jake is understood to still be furious at his mates. But his friend Robbie says that the feeling is mutual.
“Bloody Jake, man. For a guy who supposedly loves that band, he sure didn’t look like he was enjoying himself. Throwing filthy looks at his mates and whinging about the behaviour of the entire crowd. Bit bloody over the top, really.”
Next time Jake sees Metallurgical, he’ll make sure their name is at the top of the bill.
